Understanding the Barcodes with NCR

Having a customizable Point of Sale system has way more benefits from the perspective of inventory management than what you might know. The POS system for inventory control introduced by NCR allows you to transfer between locations, count physically, gives you the freedom of specifying multiple price levels, do pricing for the purpose of promotion, and introduce pricing that is margin-driven with many other things too. Today in the market there are many Companies that offer Point of sale systems promising customization and introduction of updated features in their systems. However, much of what they mention is not true. Although when it comes to NCR Point of sale system, its features are a work of innovation and creativity. Over the time things have changed and manual pricing has gone out the window. Advancements in each and every field have always been directed towards assisting humans, making their life easier, and performing tasks with effectiveness. Such is the role of a POS system. What barcodes have actually done is that they have enhanced security and have made the life of the clerks and business owner way too easier.

An Effective Method

Understanding barcodes is imperative for smooth functioning. With NCR POS system forinventory control, assigning multiple barcodes for a single item has never been easier. This includes vendor barcodes, manufacturer barcodes, in house barcodes, and many other types which might be needed at the time. Here too the freedom to customize lets you either enter them in a manual manner, or lets you generate automatically. The number sequence and prefix specified by you are the basis for this. When it comes to specificity of these barcodes, you need to know that these are unit-specific. A unit defined by you for an item has direct association with the barcode. The unit can either be a stocking unit and can go up to alternate units, five in number.

Cell Specific Barcode

Another feature that makes the NCR inventory management distinct is the cell specific barcode. A unique color/size combination which is made for a gridded item can be denoted by cell-specific barcode. Creation of random weight barcodes is also supported by Counterpoint. Even those created by third-party scales. This gives you the freedom to scan a weighted item, maybe its cheese, maybe its meat, maybe it’s any other thing. This leads to automatic calculation of weight, and the resultant or expected extended price for a specific item, inclusive of container weight too.

Easy and Quick

After the creation of the barcodes, printing can be performed on the labels, and scanning can be performed at the Point of sale. All of this can be done while continuing with purchasing, receiving, doing a physical count, or even when items are being transferred. This allows you to quickly find an item which is in your database. When one is conversant with the way things are handled with barcodes within NCR point of sale, it becomes relatively easy to perform effectively. There is never a break in the process and smooth operating is ensured.
