There are many factors that can affect how your compositions appear. It’s almost impossible to replicate a pattern twice which can be infuriating if you’re a beginner. Below, we have listed down a few tips that can help you achieve more consistent results.

·         If you are beginning with unprimed, absorbent surfaces, ensure to seal your canvas first. Some canvases may require multiple coats for better results.

·         The quality of the paint you select, additives, and whether or not you use proper pouring medium will all affect how your end results appear.

·         The consistency and thickness of your pour will determine the pattern and quality of your work.

·         Try not to paint and pour in extreme temperatures or humidity. These factors affect the time it takes for your canvas to dry.

·         Room temperature is the standard atmosphere for a perfect acrylic pouring medium painting

·         Make sure you keep your workspace free from contaminants, particularly dust and oil. If your canvas or panels come into contact with them, it can affect the quality of your paintings.

·         Many beginners make the mistake of using forced air to dry their paintings. This causes uneven drying, which encourages unpleasant tears and cracks in the composition.

·         Ensure that your workspace is leveled. Apart from making it easier for you to pour, a leveled workplace also encourages less product waste dripping from your canvas.

·         Step back from your work once it’s complete and leave it alone for a while. Come back later and appreciate the art instead of moving wet canvas, ruining it.

·         Always tilt your canvas till the paint is running off its sides to get the best results.

·         Once your canvas is completely dry, you can varnish it to preserve the shine and gloss of the paints.

·         Always use wax paper if you are re-using aluminum baking trays.

How to minimize bubbles in your acrylic pouring medium painting:

If you get frequent bubbles in your poured artwork, there are a few techniques you can try to minimize them.

·         If there are only a few bubbles, you can pop them with a toothpick or a pin.

·         You can use mists of isopropyl alcohol to break surface tension of the topmost paint layer which causes bubbles to pop.

·         Heat guns or small blow torches can also be used to get rid of bubbles. This technique can create new cells in the paintings however it may also result in patchy and uneven drying. This is because the area torched usually dries quicker than others.

·         The most ideal solution to get rid of bubbles is to avoid getting them in the first place. Prepare your pouring mixes correctly by mixing paints with minimum force and then give it time to free the bubbles.
